Achema AB
At Achema AB, implementation of the investment programme II, which is scheduled to be fully finished by 2009, is being continued. The programme is designed for production of organic products (resins) and fertilisers, for economy of energy resources and power production for the company needs.
In 2008, Achema completed construction of a new methanol plant and investments to this project amounted to LTL 133.5 million. The methanol production process is fully automated, Foxboro distribution management system has been installed. In this methanol plant, efficiency of utilisation equipment of gaseous byproducts reaches s 99.5 per cent, thus decreasing demand for raw materials and reducing energy costs as byproducts are recovered back to the process. Last year, construction of nitric acid production UKL aggregate No IX was also completed. An aggregate of type UKL-7 will increase the general nitric acid production capacity of already operating equipment by 350 tons per day. The new aggregate No IX and already operating nitric acid production units have been modernised in order to ensure pollution reduction and economy of energy resources. AB KLASCO
At the end of August of 2008, KLASCO officially opened the general cargo and paper warehouse constructed during the year. Total area of the warehouse divided into two sections is 4 thousand sq m. With a specialised warehouse, general cargo stevedoring at the Sea Ferry Terminal may increase from 100 thousand tons to 0.5 million tons per year. Investments of the company to these facilities exceeded LTL 10 million.
More intensive navigation in the northern part of the port and high navigation safety requirements prompted KLASCO to purchase modern and powerful tugboats. In 2008, the company bought a new tugboat that was named KLASCO - I. It is equipped with azimuth thrusters and international-standard fire-fighting equipment intended for extinguishing fires on floating and shore objects. This year, there are plans to purchase another modern tugboat, i.e. KLASCO-II. Klaipėdos Keleivių Ir Krovinių Terminalas UAB
The company purchased the water treatment facility designed for separation of the water/petroleum product mixture and started operation thereof. This facility (separator) is used to treat water contaminated with oil products and produce liquid fuel.
Design works of the passenger and ro-ro terminal were started. Construction works and development of appropriate infrastructure will require some LTL 0.5 billion of state and private investments. After adding reserve territories, the terminal will occupy 14-18 ha. The developed infrastructure of the terminal will allow accepting cruise ships. The modern passenger and cargo terminal will be designed for passengers and tourists travelling by motorcars and for shipment of ro-ro cargo. At a time, the terminal will accept up to 3 ferries, overall 6-9 ferries per day. Mockavos Terminalas UAB
Having won the lease auction of a 39.7 ha land plot in Mockava (Lazdijai region) held at the end of July 2008, Achema Group will establish an intermodular terminal. The terminal will be constructed at a connection point of a broad gauge line of Russian standard and a narrow gauge line of European standard.
Containers or trailers of tractors will be reloaded on railway platforms without reloading the cargo itself.
For the time being, design works of the terminal are in progress. Energy
Renerga UAB
Renerga has received credits and is going to construct new wind-power stations in Kretinga region. Capacity of the wind-power-station park will be increased form 16 MW to 50 MW. Project value amounts to LTL 221 million.
Kakheti Energy Distribution
In December 2008, the concern purchased Kakheti Energy Distribution, the distribution networks in Kakheti region providing electric power to the eastern part of Georgia, for the amount of USD 9.15 million.

Agrochema UAB
Stage I of construction works of an agro centre in Viduklė (warehouses of bulk packaged and unpackaged fertilisers, of liquid fertilisers) was completed. The entire complex of Viduklė will be finished in July 2009.
Hotels, Health and Entertainment Centres
Lietuva Sanatorium UAB
In 2008, reconstruction of Block III of "Lietuva" Sanatorium was completed. In 2009, there are plans to finish reconstruction works of a spa, conference centre and the main dwelling block.
Inkontas UAB
On 1 December 2008, a new economy-class three-star hotel named Magnus Hotel opened its door in Kaunas centre. Investments to the hotel amounted to LTL 15 million.
The hotel offers 82 modernly equipped rooms including 7 rooms of a luxury class and 2 rooms adapted for the disabled. Conference halls may accommodate over 100 persons at a time, whereas the European cuisine restaurant on the 1st floor welcomes over 60 guests. In the interior, the theme of Kaunas prevails, i.e. cityscapes and symbols specially adjusted to the hotel. |
